Thankfully Baen is curently working to add other SF publishers to their Webscription system (
http://www.webscription.net). Baen books are without DRM and available in several formats. The deal with TOR (biggest SF publisher) did not succeed, but they are working on it.
This is the way to go not some feature/DRM laden online system. Have a look, pay and download.
