Edit: you mentioned your Macbook; when I hold the device close to my aluminium iMac, it's the same colour, only the Mac has a slightly coarser surface texture.

Thanks for the pictures Ea. it's really given me a better idea of what silver looks like. and now i have my macbook as a reference as well!
