personally, i think that since there is usually more "blank" screen showing than dark letters, it's better to improve the perceived lightness of the screen, which in turn should make the letters seem relatively darker. but now i'm extrapolating.
well before this it was mainly what color we liked. now it's taken on a whole different meaning...
the idea of tossing a coin doesn't seem so bad now....
