There are Livejournal communities that have conversion tutorials with screencaps. But honestly, most are geared towards converting fanfiction to ebook format. I also second the person that pointed out PDF is not a good format to use in Calibre to convert to other formats. I convert PDFs first to HTML using Adobe Acrobat and then I fix the html before converting to LRF.
