I've had mine since Christmas and don't have any scratches, either (oh, wait, that IS 7 months

). Anyway, I just press lightly with my thumb (not even the nail, just the pad) and it works great. I did have to get used to the motion and the pressure but it didn't take long. I am seriously considering getting the 600 if the display is as improved as they've said.
