Does anyone know what to expect from ePub firmware? ePub readers (software) available so far have some problems. I have tested some of them and I found following issues:
First one is that few of them don't display non-English characters (I'm Polish, so characters like "ążńśćłó" are quite important for me).
Second one is hyphenation. While the eInk displays have paper-like look, lot of texts don't look even close to what you can see in books. Not having automatic hyphenation causes different line color (average gray based on characters and white spaces). While I can put soft hyphens automatically in most of the documents I have, I was not able to find reader that actually uses them correctly.
Most of you probably don't care about it, but there are languages with average words much longer than English ones. English average word is 5.1 characters. But for example Finnish is 7.7. (Comparison list is available at
http://blogamundo.net/lab/wordlengths/).
Also there are people who like to use bigger font sizes. Having either soft hyphens correctly rendered or some auto hyphenation mechanism is quite important.
I'm waiting for new firmware with anticipation, but also I'm quite prepared for huge disappointment.
