My criteria is pretty simple, I only buy eBooks now. If a book isn't available to buy as an eBook in a format I can use or convert, then I'll either borrow it from a friend or find something else to read

I still buy reference books in paper and hardbacks for presents. But for myself, it's eBook or nothing now. Much like with CDs and DVDs I've no plans to build a large physical collection again, much prefer the digital format and space it saves. It'll be great once eBooks reach the same level of availability as Music has, even better when Movies do the same
