Thanks for the interesting replies, I'm definitely looking for something with an e-ink screen, I want to be able to lie on the couch and read etc.

The new Sony 600 looks interesting, particularly it's ability to show pdf's properly, and I'm interested to see what the txtr is like when it comes out. They're more likely to be in my price range and have what I need.
