I've been to Atlantic City once. I walked into the room with all the slot machines, put in a quarter, pulled the lever, won $5 worth of quarters, cashed them in for a $5 bill and walked out.
For full disclosure, my dad bought an antique slot machine when I was in elementary school. It's a 1941 Bronze Chief Quarter Slot. My brothers and I used to play it all the time, so the thrill of playing a slot machine wore off a long time ago. When my parents moved to Florida, they gave me the old slot machine and now it sits on a stand in my kitchen and all the neighbor kids love to play it when they come over. I tell them if they use the house quarters (I have a plastic bowl of quarters next to the machine), the house keeps the winnings but if they use their own money, they get to keep the winnings. So far, none of them have used their own money.
