Encountered this problem in v0.6.3 and v0.6.4. Here's what happens when I try to add a new file:

The "Adding..." dialogue remains on screen without the bar filling up. In earlier versions the bar would begin to fill almost immediately.
Multilple copies of calibre-parallel.exe appear in Task Manager. So far I've noticed 3. One of these copies starts to hog all available memory, sometimes going beyond 200MB.
After a long wait, usually over a minute, the file is added to the library. It takes much longer than in earlier versions.

Running WinXP with SP2. No major changes to my system in recent history.

p.s. Excellent work on calibre. Loving it very much.
