Remember that all the sites that are posting the photos of the 300 and 600 are showing them side-by-side, scaled to the same size. However, the two devices are not the same size. From the dimensions given in the service manuals, the 300 is 5/8" shorter in both width and height. As far as total area goes, that makes the 300 a decent amount smaller than the 600. The 300 is roughly the same size as all the other 5" devices. All you need to do is find some shots comparing other 5" devices to other 6" devices to get a better idea of the true size difference.
EDIT: I've quickly slapped together a side-by-side comparison image that's closer to what the real size difference is. It's not exact, but it's
close.
