When I installed Vista the performance was no different to the snappy performance I got from the original XP (and I always had the Aero theme on). Probably a driver issue.

And Windows 7, which is Vista under the hood with a polished UI and less stability for me so far - crashes at least once every couple of weeks - unacceptable these days - is lauded as the greatest thing Microsoft have ever done...I will install the RTM soon and see if they've got it right.

Could Be, Thought i did wait about 6 months after Vista came out and Dell had released all the new drivers. The Machine I was using was a XPS M1210, with Core2 2ghz Processor, 2GB Ram and Nvidia Discrete Graphics with 128MB Ram which should have theoretical worked fine.

What I ran into was that while basic system operations ran ok, adlibt a bit slower, trying to run something like Photoshop, the whole system ground to a halt.

In Contrast on running Win7 on the same system (Again a clean Install) the performance was a match for XP, and All the Media Programs such as Photoshop, Premier run Smoothly. And I've yet to see the RC crash, no matter how much I throw at it.

As for stability on your system, Are you using the Beta, or the RC. I found that the RC is far and away much more stable then the Beta.
