Newbie question - possible bug?

I've only just started using Calibre, so forgive me if I'm doing something wrong.

My preference is to edit the book metadata in Calibre such that all my author names are of the form "surname, firstname".

I've just loaded into Calibre one of the current Baen Webscription books: "Seeker's Bane" by P.C. Hodgell. I edited the metadata to make the author "Hodgell, P.C." and then exported the ePub book.

The exported file was named:

Seeker's_Bane_Hodgell_P_C_epub

rather than the correct:

Seeker's_Bane_Hodgell_P_C_.epub

ie, it was saved as a file with no extension, and "epub" as a part of the filename rather than as a file extension.

It appears as though the fact that the author's name ends in a "." is what's causing the problem.

Is this a known issue?
