If you try to embed fonts in LRF, you will see a performance difference. LRF slows down when there are embedded fonts. ePub is fine with embedded fonts.

Also, LRF is a Sony only format and ePub is going to be on more readers so going epub means you don't have to do yet another conversion if you switch readers.
