They don't do that here anymore. Now they have a car that drives around and they pick up a radio signal from the meter. One of my husband's summer jobs was as a meter reader, walking from house to house and dodging dogs
. When we get the electric bill, he always checks the meter to make sure the bill is on target. Unfortunately, it's been correct everytime, so I can't blame the power company when our bill is high.
