I'm not sure how much including wi-fi would increase the cost of the unit but if you are comparing wi-fi to the option of using an SD card you still have to consider the cost of buying something extra, which would be an SD card. And for me, it's not about memory since wi-fi helps facilitate the transfer of books to the device and most wi-fi devices I have makes it a breeze and it brings about the freedom for me to do it anywhere at home without having to be at a computer.

I like keeping my books on my computer and transferring them to my device only when I'm about to read them. And I've heard you can turn wi-fi off if they build in that option so it wouldn't be a drain of batteries unless you constantly have it on. I don't see it using my power if you flip it on for a few seconds to download a book, but I could be wrong.

I know some people don't care much about wi-fi, but I like not always having to have all these cables around to just plug something in to transfer files.
