I'm having some of the same issues. It usually lives in my purse, in its case. But when the temp outside is nearly 100 degrees, I can't just lock my purse in the trunk as usual. Everything melts, including makeup, ballpoint pens, and e-ink screens. So I have to bring it in with me and leave it in my bag beside the pool.

About a month ago, a thieving lifeguard was messing with my bag. I yelled at him and he dropped it. My reader didn't break, but the $70 lighted cover broke. There were not any witnesses, except for my husband and I, so the univ is refusing to reimburse me for the cover.

I just can't come up with a good solution to hot weather and leaving it someplace secure.
