Powells seems to be selling only Adobe PDFs. Generally Adobe ePubs are better when they are available. In the US, the best store for Adobe ePub (and PDF) is Books on Board. They have an Adobe-only portal which is supposed to be for the Bookeen Opus but is equally applicable to other devices with mobile ADE, see Books on Board has an Opus Portal. Many UK titles are available in ePub, and I buy from WHSmith. Note that UK ebook stores do not lock out US customers and even sell VAT free to the US.
