I was wondering if there was a way to know if you have a topaz, an azw, a partridge, or a pear tree

Unfortunately, there is no collection or folder function on the Kindle (we've benn begging and yelling). There are work arounds. One way is via the meta data (take a look at the Advanced Mobi2Mobi section of the
Visual Kindle Guide). There is another way via tags you create via the note function. I haven't tried that way so I'm not completely sure how it works.
Most books you download from the Kindle store will be .azw. If you come across a Topaz book you'll know it. It will look kind of like a scan of a page and usually has a different font.
To see all the bookmarks, highlights and notes you have for a particular book, go to the home page. Go to the book you're interested in, move the joy stick to the right and you will be taken to page with a menu just for that book. Toggle the joystick down to "My Notes & Marks", push down on the joystick and you'll see everything for that book.
