I remember a comment from Robert several pages ago that the second slot is actually an indentation for holding the reader to the case. There should be similar ones on the sides and bottom. The top one gets questioned because it does look a bit like a second card slot due to how deep it is. If you are brave enough to go back and find the pictures he posted of the light blue sample unit some of them showed it a bit better, but knowing what to look for/at helped.
