I think Mobile Reference is a legitimate PD publisher. They certainly look legit. I know people have bought some of their collections on Kindle and been very pleased with them.

Orwell is PD in other countries, I think. Could this be a case of horribly confusing PD laws causing Mobile Reference to make an error?
