you truly do have more control with a manual! I had a Ford Aerostar van back when my daughter and I started at the mountain where I have taught for the last 11 years. it was a 5 speed, and I chickled all the way up the hill as I passed all the people with their fancy automatic SUVs. one of the things I hated about the Suburban was that it was an automatic. I wouldn't let either of my kids get licenses until they were proficient on a manual
