That's Lem's big thing. If you didn't care for that, you might not be crazy about his other books either.

Having said that, I found the book thickly permeated by a sense of not understanding things... and found it a fairly significant aspect of it. Would you agree?

I realize that. Just found it strange... and since the original language is polish, the translation taking liberties could be either one (if it isn't simply a case of a poorly written wikipedia summary).
