Cool! Thanks, AJ Starr. I remember staying up and watching them land or walking onto the surface, but I can't recall exactly. And I think the LEM landing footage was actually not broadcast live at the time but I have forgotten why. I mostly remember being amazed by it all.

I also remember one of my friends (it was the summer before 7th grade for us) who claimed he was the going to be the first man to walk on Mars. He's now 52. Maybe his grandson could make that boast.
