The words "swashbuckle" being associated with "The Mote in God eye" is suggestive that the book has aspirations not (just) in the "serious science fiction" but also in the "grand adventire IN SPACE!!!" category. A category, mind you, that I have some love for... but enjoy it on a wholly different level and in a wholly different way from the former.
