how short-sighted of him, really. tch.
speaking of well-trained (or not) dogs, the other day i saw a man
about a walking a dog so HUGE i had to ask him what kind it was. from a safe distance, i leaned over slightly so he would know i was talking to him. he said it was a dogue argentin ("dogo argentino"). the dog said "WOOF" and leaped straight up in the air, then tried to bound over to continue the discussion up close and personal. the man got a better grip on the leash and i could see how hard he was working to keep the beast in check, and i sidled a little further away. he looked very friendly (a little *too* friendly for my taste, if you know what i mean) but with a dog that size i'd rather not take any chances.
i tried to find a photo to give you some idea of the scale but the few with a person in them usually showed the person kneeling down next to the dog. this one is pretty good though as it also gives a good approximation of the dog's reaction to me :
