I walked out the front door today to find this "little" guy on the front porch wall. He was roughly 6 inches across. I'm fairly certain it was a Wolf Spider, but on the big side for one of those. I've never known one of those to bite a person, as far as I know, they just kill insects. So, I leave them be.
That's a tarantula. Wolf spiders are browner and more spindly. Wolf spiders don't have a severely venomous bite, they just look scary.
