Not to make light of your angst and I DO agree with you, but consider the alternative. At least with SpellChecker finds the errors for you and tries to make a correction. I can't tell you how many papers I turned in in college (typed on a typewriter, no less) where the instructor circled spelling errors and took points off the total grade. Thank goodness I majored in Computer Science and had very few papers to write.
