Does the eBook Library work OK without the PRS-700 attached? ie. Can you connect to the eBook Store by SONY?

Your computer should recognize the prs-700 as a mass storage device even if the SONY software isn't up and running. Have you tried just using windows explorer to transfer .lrf files to your reader?

Just trying to narrow down the problem.
