Bread Recipe
My Granny's Biscuit Recipe
1. Put a pile of self-rising flour into a wooden bowl.
2. Make a little hole in the top of the pile, as if you were planning to fill it with shortening and buttermilk.
3. Put half a handful of shortening and enough buttermilk into the hole in the top of the pile of flour so that when you mix it with your hands, it will be a bread dough consistency.
4. Mix the shortening and buttermilk into the flour with your hands, making sure that the shortening is sort of evenly distributed.
5. Dust your hands with flour, because now you don't want the dough to stick to them. Quickly make a sort of log of dough in the bowl, then feed it through your hand, squirting out biscuit-sized wads of dough.
6. Put the wads onto a heavily greased pan.
7. Turn the oven to 450 and pop the pan into it. Don't wait for preheating, because the short burst of extra pre-heat hotness will give you a head start on browning.
8. Cook the BACON and eggs. Your biscuits will be done at about the same time as the BACON and eggs are done.
