If you want to know about hacks for the 505 look here - they include the PRS customizer which allows you to put in a clock and change the function of buttons etc. I used it without any problems and I'm usually a bit nervous about messing around with things that work.

Try the Kindle forums for equivalents for them - I'm sure there must be something but I haven't used a kindle so can't comment on them
