I still get 0 byte sized books too.
The log works now, and i get

and then lots of "Could not fetch stylesheet", "Could not fetch image data:image/jpeg" and "Could not fetch link" messages
edit: I cannot see the Advanced section of the Bookit Preferences pane. I can only see a small part of a button on the right corner of the window, so maybe there is a window sizing issue that hides the right side of the menu?
