The amount of RAM is also limited by the BIOS so it's not just a matter of adding RAM. The BIOS would likely need reprogramming. I've run into this on systems like the Fujitsu B2630, which has 256MB of RAM that can be swapped out for 512MB but the BIOS won't recognize the new configuration.
Also, OpenOffice 3 needs a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels according to the requirements page above. The Q7 has a max resolution of 800 x 480.
I assume you know that a spreadsheet (Gnumeric) and a word processor (AbiWord) already run on the Q7.
Were you looking for additional software such as a presentation program like Impress?
I'm sure with all the folks who use the Q7 there are many who could make suggestions to help you find software to do whatever job you need done.
