You have to go. You can always sleep during the show. If you are caught you say "I told you so! ".
Find a nice person for the return trip or maybe that particular friend.
Funny thing, the events that I dread the most have always turned up to be the most fun. If you weren't goig, what would you do? Write here? I rather do something.
