Probably not

But I have a possible hint: I noticed the same problem with the book I'm currently reading. It turned out the the book, "The Prince.pdf", having been previously moved into a folder named "The Prince.pdf" (this is the standard and correct behaviour), had been move into another subfolder named "The Prince.pdf". This means that the file was placed in .../books/The Prince.pdf/The Prince.pdf/The prince.pdf". Obviously, this is wrong. I copied the pdf file back into the root, calling it something else, and then it started working again.

Perhaps this is what happened to you? If so, I fixed this using the terminal, but you can also use the usb cable: Just move books/X/X/X.pdf to books/Y.pdf and see if it works.

I will file a bug report to iRex if it happens again.
