Another problem may be that the LCD backlight/contrast might be turned too low, so while "turning it on" try tapping the 'screen rotate' icon in the top-right corner and touching near the top of the LCD touchscreen. If that doesn't work, try "turning it off" and trying the 'screen rotate' icon again (in case it was turned off before). Worth a shot!
