Since susan_cassidy (see earlier thread) had not posted on getting an answer from Amazon Kindle Support, I emailed them yesterday morning:
1. I thanked them profusely for supplying new corrected editions of H2G2 and The Stand - automatically & with no hassle. (Good cop).
2. Then I asked them nicely when buyers of the older version of LOTR & The Hobbit with the known (and now corrected) formatting problems would receive their new copies.
And although the contact page boasts that most emails are answered in less than 12 hours, I too have received no answer. Not even the standard form letter saying "Thank you for contacting Amazon support, blah, blah, blah."
If I receive no answer today, I plan on sending a daily email until I get some response. I suggest everybody that needs a new version start emailing too.
I hesistate to call b/c I really don't deal well with idiots on the phone, and recently reports in this (and other forums) have increasingly reported phone conversations with support people who weren't very supportive.
