I have PRS-500 and it works for 2-3 weeks on standby with approximately 1 hour of reading each day.
You can not switch PRS-500 off.
The only times I have seen it booting was
- when I switched it on after purchase
- when I had to reset it (2 times so far)
- when the battery drained too much (3 times so far)
Not bad for a 2 year old device that is used every single day.
