i think stock is the same as broth, but i'm not sure.

yes, "fond" is the french word for it ("fond de veau" is veal broth), or you can call it "bouillon". i just had to look up what is the difference because i didn't know : they are both broth or stock but a fond is made with bones, a bouillon is not.
