I used to really like Crichton's books, but his recent stuff leaves me cold - to my mind he's made a big mistake going down the unfortunate road of "politicizing" science. The truth of science does not - despite what Mr Crichton appears to think - depend on one's political affiliations, and issues such as "global warming" won't "disappear" if you just ignore them or pretend that they are an invention of your political opponents. Mr Crichton isn't doing himself or anyone else any favours by writing books such as "State of Fear".
