The books diverge from the TV series around about episode 5 or 6. Ms. Harris reckons that they are separate experiences and that she appreciates and enjoys Allan Ball's treatment that way. The books are all written in first person which doesn't always work well in film treatments so the TV series includes other POVs and events of which Sookie would have been ignorant.
And, yeah, my step-daughter talks to me. She's a typical 16 year old with typical concerns and she's very funny. She has a great sense of humor as well as a sense of irony.
