Really? I haven't had that particular experience.
Mine always try to sit on whatever it is that is taking attention away from them -- books, babies, computers, whatever.
My dogs have always been content to just sit near me, within arms reach. The cats have always insisted on being the center of attention.
I voted dogs because I find cats are too needy and distracting.
