Am I right or wrong to assume that the new Channel collection doesn't *require* the upgrade to 4.x?

I'm hesitant to upgrade from 3.35 because I rarely use iSilo to do much more than grab some daily links and catch up on my reading when I have a few minutes.

Any thoughts?
