June 21, 2009 is World Music Day
Today is World Music Day (Fête de la Musique originally), celebrated in more than 20 countries around the world. The festivity began in France in 1982 and has since spread to the world. The idea was to organize an all-night music celebration at the moment of the summer solstice. On this night amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets.
