Once you venture out of the Kindle/Amazon DRM-laden store, IMO, you lose the "ease of use" of putting books on the Kindle.
It's not difficult to put non-Amazon-bought books on a Kindle, but it's no esier than putting books on the Sony Reader IMO.
(I had a Kindle for a while, just in case you see my sig and think I have only Sony Reader experience).
