Well, the V5 is *exactly* the width of a paperback book; so grab a real thin one and see how it feels.
Factor in the edge-mounted jog dial for paging and it may actually be a superior ebook reader despite cleatly being inadequate as a pdf viewer.
But then, folks are griping about how pdfs look on the Kindle DX 10" screen.
As for small; some folks read ebooks on 3" and smaller screens and rave about it, so its all a matter of personal taste.
