Hi Beowulf,
after regularly checking back from time to time to see if new versions of Bookit would fix the not-working-at-all bug that plagued me for quite a long time, the last release finally works again! And it has so many new and neat features! Yay!
Still, there are some little issues, which I'll try to discribe here:
- almost
no pictures make it into the ebooks created by Bookit!
Please Help!
Example:
http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,4303087,00.html, using 'selection to ebook' won't get me the picture. When I try using the editor to create a book, no pictures are included either, even though they do show up in the editor (saving as html won't save the pictures, too). I hope this can be fixed soon, pictures enrich reading!
- calibre doesn't launch after conversion, even though the setting is selected
- when calibre is runnig while a new book is created and added to the database (setting is active in the Bookit preferences), the new books won't show up in the library.
This might be a bug in calibre itself, because it tells me the new book is already there when then I try to add it manually. Have to close and relaunch to have it show up in the library.
- recursion settings etc. should be added to the 'create book' dialogue, so they can be changed on a book-to-book basis. Even though I'm actually not sure how recursions work...
Right now, I would like to create an ebook of this site: www.china1900.info
It is pretty straight foreward, doesn't have many external links and includes a lot of pictures. I don't get anything usable with Bookit (max recursions set to 5 and max files set to 100, whatever that means).
- there should be an option like
'add to calibre database and delete file', otherwise there will be lots of duplicate files on the hard drive in no time.
You're doing really great work with Bookit! Keep it up!
Cheers,
jo.
