Steve Bargo slammed the door so hard on his way out of the diner that the building shook like just another 5.0 temblor - only this time the door was unlikely to survive. It was bad enough that some low-life Nevada trucker would insult Steve's good looks but to do the same for his companion was going too far. But, being a sensible fellow who refused to upset himself over trivia, Steve simply took it out on the door on his way to escape such nonsense. He took his companion, Boxer The Otter, with him. Like hell if he was going to stand for that sh**! But in no way was he going to pound the face of another trucker. Steve was over that phase of his life. His new friend had taught him compassion, equanimity, and joy. Only a few steps past the door, Steve was already calm again. As he opened the door to his car he paused and gazed at the sun setting behind the distant Sierras. Steve smiled as he envisioned spending another quiet evening with Boxer playing dodge the apple in the bathtub.
