Regarding splitting/epub->epub workflow, and HTML input handling:

I disabled both types of splitting, so epub output is working as well as can be expected for the moment. Now I'm looking for a clean workflow to edit this epub and run through the conversion routine again after marking chapters, etc. Conceptually I want to take the epub output, decompress it, edit it, reimport as oeb or some other filetype, then convert to epub again so that it's split along chapters.

As Calibre just seemed confused when I tried to specify an OPF file as an input I suspect zipped html might be the most convenient. However, I believe I'm seeing a bug/regression here. In .5 if you gave it an HTML file Calibre would grab the HTML and all the files referenced in that HTML and zip them up. .6 doesn't do this. Instead it just copies the html file uncompressed to the library, leaving all the other related files in their original location.
