Okay ....
it's been a hell of year for internet purchases ...
1) Item from a shop that promised free delivery, anywhere in mainland UK - irrespective of size and weight.
Tried to charge £150.00 for delivery - despite their t&cs, "because it was being sent direct from the manufacturer."
Manufacturer offered to send with delivery £70.00 (!?) - but the item would cost more anyway - so that was no joy.
3 weeks later manufacturer sends email inviting me to purchase at a reasonable price, inc. p&p - Lot cheaper than the original discussions.
Arrived by courier badly damaged, as did a replacement. 3rd time lucky !!!!!
2) Watch ordered - website said 'in-stock', but it wasn't. Eventually they found it - but when it arrived it wasn't what was ordered. The shops had their labels mis-printed.
New watch ordered and correct on receipt from another (more expensive) site.
3) Fictionwise, BoB and others - "Geographical Restriction" on books I want to buy from my wish list.
4) Two expensive chairs ordered. 4-6 weeks delivery, but pay up-front. 5 weeks in and the supplier goes bust - no order and no money likely. Credit Card company pays up.
Two expensive chairs re-ordered from another site (more expensive). 4-6 weeks delivery. 9 weeks later we were promised delivery yesterday. But courier didn't move them from the warehouse 400 miles away until late yesterday. We hope for Monday!.
5) Beautiful Ammonite pair on Ebay. Successful bid (only bidder). AAA quality with almost flawless structure on the face of each showing well defined cells and lattice work, including the final spiral into the middle. 6 days later it arrives. But it wasn't what we bid on.... No explanation with the item. 3 days of frantic messages and emails follow - plus discovery of web site showing the identical photograph and description of Ebay item - at twice the price !!!. Owner finally responds, he's been away. Error on their part, they've sold it, and doesn't appreciate being informed that the alternative sent was not of same quality. Offers another that he says is 3* more valuable - but although it's a nice pair it has damage in the centre and it's not nearly as nice.
Blames web-site reorganisation for item still on sale - even today...
He's worried that a negative feedback will ruin him and put his staff out of business. Talk about tripping guilt !!!
He promised to obtain suitable specimens .... we wait.....
excuse my rant and vent - there ! , that's better ...... .....
normal service will now resume...
CHOCOLATE anybody ?
